Kayaking and Snorkeling in Isabella

Kayaking and Snorkeling in Isabella

February 27, 2024 Tuesday
Today we took a kayak tour around the bay!  Our first sighting was a sea turtle swimming right beside us…very cool!  And then as we approached the rocks we were greeted by a female blue-footed boobie.  Other wildlife that we saw in Tintoreras Islet were herons, pelicans, petrels and PENGUINS!  How on earth did they get here?!?

After beaching the kayaks we walked through a dense mangrove forest on a very nice boardwalk to a small tidal pool.  Time for a nice snorkel which turned out to be as amazing as the kayaking!  I saw a massive sea turtle rise about 20 feet from the floor of the pool to the surface to get a breath.  He was so graceful and looked like he was more flying than swimming through the water.  A marine iguana swam past me (not so thrilling!).  And a penguin darted not 10 feet right in front of me – fantastic!  There were many other fish including 2 types of parrotfish and some damselfish which nipped at my toes.
