A Toasty Afternoon Stroll
February 23, 2024 Friday
We decided to do an afternoon excursion to find the Interpretive Center somewhere north of the town’s center. Garland and Jennifer (W-Arc-ers on SV Esperanza) joined us. Together we admired the rock gardens and brightly colored flowers along the way, as well as Mann Beach which sported a view of the boats in the bay. Even got a picture of Darwin and The Beagle!
The Interpretive Center has some interesting displays about the history of the Galapagos, as well as information about what is being done to protect its future. Having read the book Floreana, I especially enjoyed learning more about the Wittmore family, Dr. Ritter, and the baroness.
There was a very nice long trail going from the complex to the next beach. It was so hot that we turned around before we got there, and happily headed back to Bountibou.
